ASUS Philippines has debuted a new version of the ASUS FonePad 7, a model that’s priced at $137 and shown below. The new slate has the model number FE170CG and it’s said to be lighter and thinner than the original unit.
The resolution goes down from WXGA to WSVGA and the internal memory from 8 GB to 4 GB. The main camera is also bumped down to 2 MP from 5 megapixels. The rest of the hardware remains unchanged, though and the new ASUS FonePad 7 FE170CG is available in Philippines alone for now, priced at the above mentioned amount, making it very affordable.
The slate looks quite sleek and comes with a LCD screen panel with 7 inch diagonal, as well as 1.2 GHz Intel Atom Z2520 dual core CPU and a PowrVR SGX544MP2 GPU. We’ve got 1 GB of RAM on board, 4 GB of storage, up to 64 GB extra via microSD and a 2 MP rear camera with F2.8 aperture. This model does dual SIM slots, HSPA+, has GPS and runs Android 4.3. The battery is a 3950 mAh unit.
