Archos is the first big brand to showcase a tablet running Android Ice Cream Sandwich, although there was a very cheap device from China that ran the same OS and reached the web over the past days. This time we’re dealing with the Android 4.0 slate Archos 101 G9, that’s pictured below.
The update for the slate will be released in Q1 2012 and from the video demo below, we can gather the platform runs smoothly n the 10 inch slate. Lately we’ve also seen Android 4.0 teased on the ASUS Transformer Prime, the quad core tablet that everyone is talking about. Last I heard, the Archos 101 G9 was priced at around $300-$400, which is a reasonable amount to pay for the Android 4.0 dual core tablet.
Let me remind you that the Archos 101 G9 and the Archos 80 G9 slates come with Android 3.2 Honeycomb, so ICS serves as an update. Both tablets come with TI OMAP 4 dual core CPUs, great to run the latest in Google mobile OS. Recently we saw the debut of the Archos 101 G9 Turbo edition of the tablet, that brings more storage and a faster 1.2GHz dual core CPU. I’m guessing that this model will be upgraded as well to ICS…
