Archos has just announced a new Android tablet, with Android 4.0 on board and a price tag of $250. Archos 97 Carbon is the name of the new product, that matches the size of the iPad, with a 9.7 inch display, supporting a 1024 x 768 pixel resolution. Also on board there’s a 1 GHz ARM processor, 1 GB of RAM and a rear camera.
Other features include 16GB of storage, a microSDHC card slot and the CPU is an ARM Cortex A8, in case you were wondering. The screen adopts a 4:3 format and relies on IPS technology. The slate offers support for playback up to 1080p 30 fps and it also has a HDMI out port, WiFi, 2 speakers, G sensor and a 2MP cam at the back, plus a 0.3MP front cam. Inside there’s a Li-Po battery, good enough for 8 hours of video playback and 20 hours of music playback. The product measures 11.5 mm in thickness and weighs 620 grams.
Archos 97 Carbon has a stylish look and it comes with preloaded Office Suite Viewer, only for reading documents and not editing them. There’s also a demo of the game World of Goo on board. In case you’re wondering, the device offers full access to the Google Play Store services. The slate debuts later this month.
