Archos is a French company that has recently getting much press for the fact that it makes affordable Android tablets, now with Android 4.0. Two new devices in their portofolio are the Archos 80 and the 101 G9 models, that are shipping right now. These cost less than $400, so they’re quite a bargain. Let’s see what you get for that amount of money.
Archos 80 G9 features a 1.5 GHz dual core processor, full HD 1080 video recording and Android 4.0 of course. This unit has an 8 inch display, while the 101 opts for the larger 10.1 inch screen. Both models are based on a TI OMAP 4 multi core CPU and as far as storage options go, you have plenty to choose from, including a 250 GB hard drive. The 101 G9 is Google certified, so you’ll find all of the Google apps on it, also including Google Play. The resolution supported on this 10 incher is 1280 x 800 pixels and you also get HDMI output, WiFi and Bluetooth.
Archos 80 G9 also provides access to Google Play, offers a front video camera, HDMI out, WiFi, Bluetooth and apparently free shipping is available for both models. I saw that the 8 GB Archos 101 G9 goes for something like $329, while the 250 GB unit is $389.99. The 8 inch unit costs $269.
