Back in the day, the first iPads were unveiled during the Spring, but the past years sometimes saw the iPad Minis debuting in the fall. That’s why we don’t have a clear pattern or timeline of Apple tablet launches, but sources are saying that a new series of iPad Pros is coming this Spring.
Apple is said to be ready to announce a new 7.9 inch, 9.7 inch and 10.5 inch, plus a 12.9 inch tablet model. The 10.5 inch unit may not ship until May, but the other models are ready for March prime time. This means that we’re bound to see an iPad Mini 4 refresh, probably with specs that get it closer to the Pro range. Also, an update to the 9.7 inch iPad Pro and 12.9 inch iPad Pro is clearly coming.
Then there’s the brand new 10.5 inch iPad Pro, rumored to have an edge to edge screen and lack a Home button. Previously we’ve heard that at least one of the newcomers will be an affordable slate meant for the education segment. There were also rumors about a 10.9 inch iPad, being able to fit in the footprint of a 9.7 inch model, but I guess that one became the 10.5 incher.
Mac Otakara also mentions that the 12.9 inch iPad Pro (2017) will have a 12 megapixel rear camera, a True Tone display, with 4 channel ambient light sensors and the latest CPU available. The 7.9 inch iPad Pro is said to bring a Smart Connector, four speakers and a 12 megapixel camera, as well as a True Tone display. The same source predicts that quad microphones will also be in the mix on the new Apple devices.
Many other sources have mentioned a trio of new iPads, so we’re starting to believe it’s real. A quartet seems more likely though.
