Google’s VP of engineering Linus Upson told TechRadar that the company is 100% not working on a Chrome OS tablet, in spite of rumors suggesting that. However, the official was keen on mentioning that a convergence between Android and Chrome is taking place.

It’s nice to see Google mentioning that they want to deliver a “wonderful experience on desktop and laptop” and also bringing Android into discussion afterwards. Upson is sure that the convergence will happen, although it should take some time. Apple’s success with Mac OS and iOS is a reason to believe in that. User expectation is different between the laptop, desktop and portable gear such as phone or tablet, that’s the main problem. Everyone has two solutions for this problem: Apple has Mac OS and iOS, Microsoft has the Windows and Windows Phone platforms and Google is exploring its options.

The same Google man says that Chrome can now fully run on the latest phones, while before it wasn’t possible on older ARM chips. We’re also advised not to consider Android and Chrome OS as competing parties, but rather two experiences heading in the same direction. There’s already the Chrome for Android browser, as a beginning of the integration of one platform into the other and I wonder if Android Jelly Bean will develop that into something more…
