Amazon’s Fire tablets have been registering a popularity drop over the past year or so, as the whole tablet market started settling in and decreasing in sales. The Amazon models offer a customized Android experience, focused on Amazon content and book consumption. Anyway, today their products may become popular again, thanks to a big price drop.
The Amazon Fire HD tablet, the model launched last fall was priced at $140 originally, which was a pretty good deal. Well, now the deal is even sweeter, at just a hair below $80. The slate comes with a 7 inch 1280 x 800 pixel display, a 1.5 GHz quad core processor, stereo speakers and 8 GB of storage. If you pay $20 more you will get 16 GB of storage and $15 will remove the Amazon sponsored screensavers.
Of course, the hardware isn’t exactly modern and you can get some pretty hardcore MediaTek-based slates from China for similar prices. Let alone the fact you can get 2 or 3 Indian tablets that aren’t half bad, too. Do you feel this offer is actually solid enough to tempt you?
