Alcatel has just announced a new tablet part of the OneTouch Pixi series, the PIXI 3 (10) model, that feels more like a bigger tablet and less like a real slate. This is an entry level model that comes in WiFi or 3G flavours.
The CPU inside feels a bit old, a 32 bit dual core 1.3 GHz MediaTek, accompanied by 1 GB of RAM. This is a 10 inch tablet, that will also get 7 and 8 inch versions later on. Specs also include a 5 MP camera, a 2 MP selfie shooter and a 4060 mAh battery.
Android 5.0 Lollipop is the OS here and interestingly, the Pixi 3 series is familiar as a range of smartphones, not tablets. It will be interesting to see if the tablets in this range evolve to be as diversified OS-wise as the smartphones, that had Firefox OS, Window and Android in the same lineup. Price is not yet known…
