Earlier in 2014 Acer introduced a cheap Android slate, the Iconia A1-830, that packs a 7.9 inch display and an Intel Atom Clover Trail+ dual core CPU and a price of $149. Now Acer is ready to upgrade this segment with an Intel Atom Bay Trail quad core chip.
The Acer A1-840 FHD is a new model leaked recently, a higher end unit with a Full HD resolution. This model was spotted on the GFXBench website and it comes with a 7.9 inch display, an Intel Atom Z3745 quad core CPU, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB Of storage and Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The product supports a 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution and at the back there’s a 5 megapixel rear camera with flash and autofocus.
The device has a 2 megapixel shooter at the front and other features include WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and an ambient light sensor. The Acer A1-840 did have similar specs, but it came with less RAM and a 1280 x 800 pixel display. Acer has not announced the device just yet, so there’s no trace of price or launch date.
