HUAWEI has officially unveiled the MatePad Air (2026) for global markets, bringing a substantial display upgrade and refreshed hardware to its premium tablet lineup. Succeeding last year’s model, the new MatePad Air replaces the previous LCD panel with a 12-inch 2.8K OLED PaperMatte display, while retaining its slim profile, large battery and productivity-focused accessories.
The biggest highlight is undoubtedly the new OLED panel. The tablet features a 2800 x 1840 resolution, a smooth 144Hz refresh rate, P3 wide color gamut support and an optional PaperMatte coating designed to reduce reflections and provide a paper-like writing experience. HUAWEI also claims HDR peak brightness of up to 1200 nits, alongside ultra-thin 4.6 mm bezels for a more immersive viewing experience.
Under the hood, the MatePad Air (2026) is powered by HUAWEI’s new Kirin T93C processor paired with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The tablet runs HarmonyOS 4.3 and continues to target productivity users with support for the Huawei Smart Magnetic Keyboard and the latest M-Pencil Pro stylus.
Photography sees a minor refresh, with the familiar 50MP autofocus rear camera joined by an upgraded 12MP front-facing camera for improved video calls and online meetings. Audio remains a strong point thanks to a six-speaker setup, while connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.2, USB 3.1 Gen 1 via USB-C, and support for high-quality AAC and LDAC audio codecs.
Despite the upgraded display, HUAWEI has managed to make the tablet even thinner, measuring just 5.2 mm while weighing 509 grams. Battery capacity remains unchanged at 10,100 mAh, complemented by 66W wired fast charging.

Pricing starts at €849 for the 8GB + 256GB model bundled with the Smart Magnetic Keyboard. The PaperMatte Edition with 8GB + 256GB is priced at €899, including either the keyboard or the M-Pencil Pro. The top-end 12GB + 256GB configuration costs €999 with the Smart Magnetic Keyboard included.
Pre-orders are now open across Europe, with retail availability scheduled to begin on August 1.
