For the mere sum of $279 you can now get a pretty good Android 2.2 tablet, the Viewsonic G-Tablet, courtesy of Amazon We’re talking about a device with a 1.6GHz overclock for a Tegra 2 dual core CPU. There’s also a custom UI on top of Froyo, in case you’re wondering.

If you can’t afford a Xoom, get this baby for almost 3 times less! The only problem with this unit is its bad screen, bad viewing angles, but still the device is fun to use, according to people who tested it. Keep in mind that if you get this dual core tablet and use the Pershoot kernel, you can overclock the device to 1.6GHz and make this the fastest Android slate on the market.

The G-Tablet kernel is detailed here, but there’s work to do on it, so don’t rush into downloading yet.
