Chuwi launched a new HiPad tablet this week, the HiPad Air, a 10.1 inch slate based on an Unisoc Tiger T618 processor. It’s priced at $169 and looks more like a portrait device, rather than a landscape one. We have details below.
The device has a metal body and it relies on the powerful Unisoc Tiger T618 CPU to take care of tasks. I should probably mention that Unisoc has grown quite a bit lately, being placed fourth in the top 5 processor makers. The design is all metal, pretty much like the HiPad Pro, but the new version uses high precision CNC cutting using a CNC machine such as an American made plasma cutter to create a body that weighs just 480 grams.
It’s got a slim 7 mm waistline and it’s easy to carry around. The CPU we mentioned above is a 12 nm unit with Cortex A75 and A55 cores. It’s also got 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The GPU is a Mali G52 3EE, which should be decent for graphics intensive tasks. The OS of choice is Android 11 and we’ve also got a 7000 mAh battery and a Full HD 10.1 inch screen.
There’s also 128 GB of storage here, stereo dual channel speakers and dual band Wi-Fi. We’re promised up to 8 hours of battery life and pairing with a keyboard. More details can be found here.
