The iPad Pro models of 2021 have leaked already a bunch of times and now they’re back at it, this time with quite a few renders. They’re coming from CoverPigtou and xLeaks7 and they seem to show pretty much the same design as the 2020 generation, with very minor changes.
David Kowalski has shared CAD-based renders for the upcoming 11 inch and 12.9 inch iPad Pro (2021) models, through a partnership with Pigtou. The leaked 11 inch and 12.9 inch iPad Pro models show us that this year Apple’s changes to the design will be minimal. Apple will focus on hardware changes, rather than design changes. The square camera module is here to stay and the sensor layout also stays the same. We should get a similar main camera, ultrawide shooter and a LiDAR sensor.
It’s not clear if sensor upgrades have been performed. We also get reasonably narrow bezels and a front camera used for face unlock. The 11 inch iPad Pro (2021) was rumored to be a tad smaller than the iPad Pro (2020) counterpart, but now the new CAD renders show no big difference in size. The 11 inch iPad Pro is said to measure 245.7 x 176.6 x 5.9 mm, which is the exact same size as the 2020 unit. The 12.9 inch model goes to 280.6 x 215 x 6.4 mm, close to the last year measurements, but beefier.
A switch to a mini LED panel is expected, as well as a 5G enabled model. A quad speaker system is expected, plus an aluminum unibody design and a spot on the frame for the Apple Pencil to rest. There’s an USB-C port at the bottom and magnetic connectors at the back. Pins are also found on the top and bottom of the 12.9 inch iPad Pro 2021, but they may be disguised antenna bands for 5G, not merely connector pins for the Smart Keyboard. We’re expecting a March event to mark the launch of the slates, which may ship with a new Apple A14X CPU.
