If you’re looking for an affordable tablet with a small diagonal, used to read bed time stories for little ones, or to replace an e-reader, we may have a suggestion. The Alcatel Joy Tab 2 is available with an 8 inch HD display on board and Android 10. It’s priced at just $60.

The device has been launched recently in USA on Metro by T-Mobile. The carrier affords to offer the product at a lower rate, in spite of it being a 4G slate. Originally, the Joy Tab 2 should have been $120, but Metro is subsidizing it and offering a 50% price cut. This is a medium size tablet with budget specs, like an 8 inch IPS LCD screen with a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. The screen is protected by a layer of Asahi Glass and inside we also find a 4080 mAh battery with the promise of up to 9 hours of video playback time on paper.

The standby time in 4G mode can go as high as up to 25 days. Inside we find a 2 GHz quad core MediaTek processor, together with 3 GB of RAM, as well as 32 GB of expandable storage. There’s also a 5 MP front and back camera, singular ones. The device runs on Android 10 OS and has a singular micro SIM card slot. It lets you connect to 4G and also place calls.

It’s obviously made of plastic and should provide some layer of customization on top of Android, although not much bloatware and nothing excessive in the way of the UI.
