While everybody is gearing up for Black Friday, companies are pumping out last minute launches and making products available. One of the high profile debuts is the one of the Microsoft Surface Book 2, that just became available for $1499 and up.
It’s been two years since the 2015 Surface Book, so it was high time for an update. Just like the original model, the newcomer is a premium laptop that has a detachable screen. It’s both a tablet and a notebook, but of course with higher end specs. You can also pick two diagonal sizes now. The basic model is a 13.5 incher with a generous 3000 x 2000 pixel resolution, plus it also uses an Intel Core i5-7300U dual core CPU, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
Of course specs go higher than that, to a Core i7-8650U CPU, 8 or 16 GB of RAM and with an NVIDIA GTX 1050 card in the mix. 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB of storage are all here. The 512 GB Core i7 one goes for $2499 and the 1 TB model is $2999. If you want something bigger, there’s also a 15 inch Surface Book 2, with a 3240 x 2160 pixel resolution and it offers a GTX 1060 card, plus up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage.
It starts at $2499 and tops at $3299. The smaller unit weighs 3.4 pounds and the bigger model 4.2 pounds. Backlit keyboards are bundled and just so you know, the Surface Pen, Dial and other accessories are sold separately. The hinge mechanism is now stronger than on the first gen model and the metal case is smooth and well built. You can buy the Surface Book 2 here.
