Verizon has been selling its Ellipsis series tablets for a while now, as budget models, that have just entered a new phase of their existence. The latest model from the series is the Ellipsis HD, an 8 inch unit with a pretty solid set of midrange specs.

We’re dealing with an 8 inch Full HD slate, that has 3 GB of RAM, as well as a 5100 mAh battery, 16 GB of storage and a microSD card slot. There’s also an octa core processor inside, of the Snapdragon 617 variety. This is quite the bump, since previous Ellipsis tablets relied un unknown quad core CPUs, most likely MediaTek ones.

Verizon claims it’s a high end chip, but let’s just agree it’s solid and that’s it. The slate is made by ODM Quanta and seems to adhere to the typical boring rectangle design, without any gimmick or special feat. Priced at $250 and offering LTE, this model is quite allright, specs-wise and it also runs Android 6.0.1. Ellipsis 8 HD can be bought for $10.41 a month or $99.99 on a 2 year contract.
