Sony is preparing a new phablet with a big display, an Xperia model with a 6.1 inch diagonal. This one will be an entry level device and some of its features have been leaked and confirmed by the famous benchmark GFXBench.
The device is meant to sit between the Xperia E1 and the M2 and it has previously been leaked under the codenames Sony D22xx (D2202, D2212 and D2203). The latter appeared on GFXBench, showing a 6.1 inch 480 x 854 display in the mix, as well as a quad core Snapdragon 400 1.2 GHz processor and Adreno 305 graphics. This model has 1 GB of RAM, 4 GB of storage, a microSD card slot and a 5 megapixel rear camera as well.
There’s a VGA front shooter and I’m guessing this is supposed to be an alternative to the latest Samsung Galaxy Mega models, only with an even lower price. I wouldn’t be surprised if Sony announced this phablet at IFA 2014 next month, together with the Xperia Z3 that we’re already waiting for.
