The ASUS FonePad 7 LTE is a hybrid phone/tablet model that we handled at MWC 2014, after its debut at the show and now we see the product certified officially. The Global Certification Forum has certified the product on March 21st, so it’s ready for sale anytime now.
The GCF is an active partnership between mobile network operators, mobile device makers and the testing industry. This model is available as both a LTE unit and a dual SIM unit, but the specs are basically the same as the ones of the FonePad 7 we reviewed a while ago. The FonePad 7 LTE packs a 7 inch 1280 x 800 pixel IPS screen, a dual core Intel Atom Z2560 processor clocked at 1.6 GHz and a 5 MP back camera.
There’s also 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage, a microSD card slot and a 1.2 MP front camera. The battery present here is a 3950 mAh unit, although I’m not sure if all the units have the same battery, considering the fact that the connectivity uses up battery in a different way. Expect the price to be only a few dozens of dollars bigger than the FonePad 7 price.
