Ainol is a brand I’ve heard of before, when it comes to budget Chinese tablets. This time we’re dealing with a 7 inch model with Android 4.1 on board and believe it or not a price tag of around $100.
That’s even more impressive when you think that the device packs a quad core CPU inside. The slate is dubbed Ainol Novo 7 Crystal 2 and while it may be a quad core unit, don’t expect a Tegra 4 or Exynos 4 chipset inside. Instead we get the Actions ATM7029 ARM processor with Vivante GC1000 graphics. The CPU frequency is 1.5 GHz and the device also comes with 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage and a microSD card slot.
There’s also a front 0.3 megapixel camera, built in stereo speakers, microphone and a Li-Ion 3700 mAh battery, that should provide 5-6 hours of fun. The device measures 1 cm in thickness and its touchscreen supports 5 point multitouch. This model lacks both Bluetooth and GPS, but at least you get Jelly Bean and a quad core CPU that’s supposed to offer a decent performance.
