Just days ago we found out that Amazon was preparing to update its Kindle Fire HD tablets, so it’s no surprise that the update has just arrived. We’re talking about software version 7.2.2, that’s reaching Kindle Fire units as we speak.
This update brings Kindle Free Time Unlimited support, allowing kids to find age appropriate content on their tablets. The feature was created with the kids 3 to 8 years old in mind and it gives the little ones individual profiles and home screen space. The commercials from apps are removed and so are social media and in app purchases. This basically triggers a whole new functioning method for the tablet, one oriented to the little users. There’s a price for that service, so Amazon Prime members must pay $2.99 for the service used by one child or $6.99 for the entire family.
If you’re not an Amazon Prime member, the prices go to $4.99 and $9.99. Amazon also provides all the famous content they can get for the kids, each and every TV show you can imagine. There’s also a free month of Kindle Free Unlimited when you buy the new Amazon Kindle Fire HD tablets, but that applies till January 15th 2013. The update also brings front camera picture taking abilities, Swype keyboard and it all comes via OTA.
