Well, it has come to this: a US appeals court denied Samsung’s second try at removing the ban for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 product in the country. District Judge Lucy Koh already said that the preliminary injunction she previously ordered won’t wait until Samsung completes the appeal and the court of Appeals supported her claims.
Meanwhile, across the Ocean, an UK court decided that the Galaxy Tab units didn’t copy the iPads and moreover, Apple had to post on their official website that Samsung didn’t copy the iPad, How cool is that? There’s still the bitter taste of defeat in USA right now, but at least the Galaxy Nexus was freed from the ban. Now we lay in wait, as the quad core Galaxy Note 10.1 is preparing to enter shops, probably to face a new round of legal battering. The Court of Appeals also refused to speed up the appeal process, sadly for Samsung.
The Galaxy Tab 10.1 was banned by Judge Koh, while the courts continue to debate the problem of other patent infringements. Still, Samsung could turn this around, using the trial that starts on July 30. Or maybe change the design of the device…
