Last week Samsung made the headlines, by announcing that it will begin offering Android 4.0 updates to Galaxy S II owners internationally. Then they denied it and finally yesterday the update started rolling out to some European countries. In their post on Facebook they mentioned that their main slates will also get a taste of the new OS.
Among the devices mentioned there we found the new Galaxy Note, the Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1 with a “coming soon” tag referring to the update. The original Galaxy Tab gets to keep Android 2.3 Gingerbread but apparently it will get some of the features from ICS via minor updates, stuff like face unlock, screenshots, photo editor and more. No mention of the Galaxy Tab 7.7 LTE or the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, but they will most likely also get their share of the updating.
Of course, for those of you who are impatient there’s always the CyanogenMod 9 alternative, that already brought Android 4.0 to unlikely devices such as the Amazon Kindle Fire, Nook Tablet and HP TouchPad. I’ve even seen Android 4.0 on Nokia N9 and Nexus One, so what’s stopping you from installing it on all the Galaxy Tab units?
