After a week or two of speculations, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is finally official, as a 10 inch tablet with S-Pen stylus. This is a version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1, that runs Android 4.0 with TouchWiz and a 1.4GHz dual core processor, plus 1GB of RAM. Here’s the device, in a picture that looks familiar from the posters of Barcelona.
You only get HSPA+ connectivity, WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0, so no trace of LTE here. The 10.1 inch display supports a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and the specs of this new tablet also include a 3 megapixel rear camera, a 2 megapixel one at the front for videoconferencing. S-Pen features include the S Note for writing text, Shape Match and Formula Match, that allow you to digitize math formulae and the ability to interact with Adobe’s Photoshop Touch and Ideas, that come preinstalled. How cool is that?
GPS and Glonass are also on board and business users will be relieved to know that Exchange ActiveSync is on board here. There’s also on device encryption, Juniper Junos Pulse and Cisco VPNs. The product will be sold in 16, 32 and 64 GB versions, with a microSD card slot for extra storage. Price and availability are mysterious for the moment. Hands on coming later on!
