If you want Android 4.0 on a Samsung Galaxy Tab unit, CyanogenMod 9 is as close as you’re going to get right now, courtesy of the same industrious developers. The pre alpha version of the software has just hit Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, thanks to the guys of the XDA Developers forums.

Steve Kondik announced this evolution and said that an official CyanogenMod 9 pre-alpha version is available for users to flash. The usual problems are encountered here: camera isn’t working and I guess that some connectivity issues are bound to happen. The reason for not being able to work the camera is the fact that the code hasn’t yet been released by Samsung. If you want to try this install, you need to flash the recovery.img with fastboot and flash the ROM in the recovery, according to people in the know.

It’s a shamed we gave in to marketing so easily…
