Research in Motion has just followed the example of LG and sony and leaked its 2012 roadmap, apparently by mistake. This roadmap seems to include both a 3G PlayBook tablet and some new Curve models and the famous BlackBerry London device, that will be delayed.
Since we’re interested in tablets, it’s the 3G PlayBook that concerns us the most. Experts have been speculating that we could also see an upgraded BlackBerry PlayBook slate, with fresh hardware and maybe it will be unveiled at MWC 2012. However, considering the fact that this product doesn’t appear on the roadmap, we’ll have to do with the 3G version of the original RIM slate.
Another sure thing to come is the PlayBook OS 2.0 platform, that was demoed at CES 2012 and it should be coming to the first RIM tablet soon. It finally brings a solid email and calendar experience and a couple more tweaks that are always welcome. Considering that RIM has just changed its co-CEOs with a brand new single CEO, plans are only being created right now and the company will have to go through some management changes and firings before it gets its mojo back. Then we’ll talk about new products…
