The first quad core tablet, ASUS Transformer Prime will hit the shops right after it’s officially launched in the USA. Recently Best Buy confirmed the product will be available around December 18th, but no more details were provided. Previously, we’ve heard that the device’s preorders have been canceled by Amazon, which is very disappointing and now this info about the same day as launch sale…

It appears that Amazon canceled the orders because of WiFi problems, but all the reviewers who played with a unit so far had no claims of such WiFi issues. It appears that ASUS mentioned December 19th as the nationwide launch date for the product in the Sates. This quad core tablet with Nvidia Tegra 3 processor will be very appealing to the public especially with its $500 price tag, 12 hours of battery life and 18 hours with the beautiful keyboard dock. There’s also an 8 megapixel camera 64GB of storage available on this hot slate.

There were some recent benchmarks posted on the web, showing that this Kal-El quad core slate is actually not as powerful and it doesn’t beat the iPad 2 by much or not all in some tests… Also, keep in mind that the iPad 3 is only a month or two away from announcement, so why waste your precious money?
