Coby Electronics isn’t the first brand we think of, when it comes to the newest of tablets… however, they will unveil an Android Ice Cream Sandwich tablet next month, during CES 2012. They made this promise recently and it appears that the products will be in the cheaper segment of the tablet market.
Coby plans to launch no less than 5 tablet sizes with Android 4.0: 7 inch, 8 inch, 9 inch , 9.7 inch and 10 inch versions. Each of the devices will sport 1GB of RAM, a 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor and multitouch displays, plus WiFi. Up to 32GB of storage will be available, as well as microSD cards. Pricing is a mystery for now, but more info will come once CES kicks in.
HDMI 1080p output is also promised and Coby wants to give us the perfect devices for browsing the web, playing games, checking email and viewing media. In case you’re wondering, this company has its HQ in New York and it’s a supplier of quality consumer electronics products, with a history dating back from 1991. One thing is for sure: this initiative reminds me of that Chinese $100 tablet with Android 4.0…
