Windows 8 has been present on standalone tablets so far, without much love for dual booting devices with Android, for example. Now it appears that the OS was spotted on one of those cheaper Chinese slates with dual OSes on board. The device is dubbed F888 and it doesn’t ring any bells, although the specs are pretty good.
We’ve got a metal casing on the device and inside there’s a dual core Intel Atom N2600 CPU at 1.6 GHz, 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. There’s also a 3 megapixel camera at the back, a 1.3 megapixel shooter upfront and Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0 and a microSD card slot in the mix. To that we add HDMI output, a miniUSB port, two speakers and an optional 3G/WCDMA modem. The 9.7 inch widescreen display is the disappointing bit here, since it only supports a 1024 x 768 resolution. Well, at least it’s an IPS panel.
The tablet also has coolers on board, which is a feat we don’t see that often. This means that the unit tends to heat up during operation and also that it will be pretty loud. F888dual boots Windows 8 Pro and Android 4.0 ICS and sadly we have no price for this gizmo. What do you think of such dual OS devices?
