Android 4.0 was showcased last autumn and it’s having a hard time reaching tablets so far, with only the Motorola Xoom, Transformer Prime and the Acer A200 model getting it so far. Of course there are some models of tablets that run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and don’t cost that much, mostly because they have mediocre specs. One of them is the Xvision an4, a 9.7 inch slate coming to Japan soon.
This Android 4.0 slate is made by WSL Japan and uses the 4:3 aspect ratio recently spotted on the LG Optimus Vu. This time we get a 1024 x 768 pixel resolution, which is disappointing for such a big screen. The specs of the Xvision an4 include a 1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of flash memory. The 3G connectivity is just an option for this product, as the basic model is a WiFi-only unit. Odds are that this product will also be sold in other countries, but that will depend a lot on the price.
If you this an entry level price, there’s no reason why it won’t succeed to penetrate the market fruitfully. Hopefully ICS behaves well on that low resolution and with that CPU…
