The Xiaomi Mi Pad has reached the lucky guys of Gizchina, who took the device for a spin in the video below. We’ve also got hands on shots here and more details below, but before that I must mention that we’ve ordered an unit of our own and our Xiaomi Mi Pad should come next week, for a fully detailed review.
On paper this is actually the most powerful Android device on the market, since in most benchmarks the Nvidia Tegra K1 obliterates the competition. It’s also a very solid rival, one that features KitKat with the MIUI ROM on top. Upfront there’s a 7.9 inch 2048 x 1536 pixel display, while inside there’s 2 GB of RAM and between 16 GB and 64 GB of storage, depending on the version you purchase.
There’s a microSD card slot that supports up to 128 GB of storage and a pretty big 6700 mAh battery. The folks of Gizchina describe the product as some sort of iPad Mini with a bit of extra weight on and a glossy plastic rear. This model is described as a grown up tablet and the editor who analyzed it actually gave up his iPad Mini, giving it to his kids. Two aspects will be interesting to see when we test the tablet too: battery life and how bright the screen is.
