Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air (2019) is a brand new laptop launched in China and it’s priced at just $536. It’s up for preorder and it weighs just 2.4 pounds. It’s got a 12.5 inch Full HD screen, slim bezels and a backlit keyboard. Let’s check it out.

The product measures about half an inch in thickness and comes with display bezels as slim as 5.71 mm. Inside we find an 8th gen Intel Core processor and there’s also Harman Kardon acoustics with DTS surround sound support. Xiaomi claims that the notebook also has fast charging, meaning it can reach a 50% juice up after a 35 minute charge session.

However we have no idea how big the battery is. By the way, $536 is the starting price tag, for the Intel Core m3-8100Y CPU version, with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Then there’s also a $596 model, with the same chip and RAM, but double the storage. Moving up the ladder, there’s a Core i5 version (8250U), with 4 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. That one costs $640.

We sure wish there was an 8 GB RAM model, but we can live with these ones. Sadly, Xiaomi doesn’t quite sell its laptops in all the Western countries, or some of the Eastern ones too. However, there are quite a few third party stores that have the product. The device feels pretty sleek and has a generous touchpad. It seems to come in gray and a sort of beige/gold.
