The pairing of Intel Atom with Windows might be the key for successful tablets, but for now some Asian manufacturers are more keen on ARM-based slates paired with Android. It might be the fact that these two technologies come in cheaper, or that manufacturers got scared of Intel’s aggressive promotion.

Intel has been trying to get hold of partners to make Atom-based tablets, that they want to showcase at IDF 2010, taking place in September. If they can’t manage to get a couple of decent samples out, Microsoft might even consider pairing with another partner for its slates.

Also, Windows isn’t yet regarded as the best OS for touch input on slates, so Android has got the upper hand here and let’s not forget the iPad is doing sooo well…
