If you thought the Toshiba 13.3 inch tablet was amazing, wait till you hear this: there’s a slate out there based on Intel’s Ivy Bridge chipset and packing a 11.6 inch display. This is the Teso K116 model, that surfaced on the wholesale retail site Alibaba. The tablet integrates an 11.6 inch display with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution.
This is about the same size and resolution of a modern ultrabook and there’s even a folding keyboard dock in the mix to turn the tablet into a notebook. Other specs, aside from the Ivy Bridge CPU include up to 4 GB of RAM, SSD storage from 16 GB to 128 GB, optional 3G radio, a 1.3 megapixel camera and USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. The slate and keyboard dock both integrate batteries and the dock also brings some extra ports such as the Ethernet one. This is a Chinese product that’s marketed in quantities of 1,000 units with wholesale prices from $400 to $600 for each unit.
I would very much like to know what the battery life is on such a gizmo and provided it’s anywhere close to 7 hours, this model would be a keeper, but if it’s not, then ASUS Transformer Prime is certainly a better alternative, in both design and even the specs, come to think about it.
