A few hours ago a very interesting device codenamed HTC 0P82100 reached the FCC and the speculations claim we may be dealing with the long awaited Nexus 9 slate. The newcomer is a tablet, we know that and it’s made by HTC, so considering their own model in development is the Nexus 9, there you have it.
HTC has left behind the tablet segment for 3 years now, but they may be back in style soon. They only released the 7 inch Flyer and the 10 inch Jetstream, with the second having a very limited run. The Nexus 9 may have both the advantage of price and solid specs, plus the very good designs that HTC proposes on its products. The codename 0P82100 is associated with HTC Flounder/Volantis and we know this unit could come with an 8.9 inch display with a 4:3 aspect ratio and a 2048 x 1440 pixel resolution.
There will be WiFi on board, Bluetooth and NFC, but the model at the FCC lacks 3G and 4G connectivity. Inside the slate there’s a quad core 64 bit Nvidia Tegra K1 processor, 2 GB of RAM (although we’ve also heard rumors of 4 GB) and 16 or 32 GB of storage. There should be an 8 MP back camera and a front 3 MP webcam. Android L is obviously here and this device is expected to be unveiled on the October 16th in New York.
