It appears that Google not only launched a Google Play Edition of the LG G Pad 8.3 tablet, but also one for the Sony Xperia Z Ultra 6.4 inch phablet. The newcomer is priced at $649 and can be found on the Google Play Store.
It runs stock Android 4.4 KitKat and throws away all of the Sony customizations, from the Walkman player to the Video and Music Unlimited services. The device stays the same, as far as hardware goes, with a 6.4 inch Full HD screen with Bravia-type technology, 16 GB of storage, 2 GB of RAM and an 8 megapixel camera with Sony Exmor RS sensor.
Inside there’s a Snapdragon 800 CPU clocked at 2.2 GHz and a 3000 mAh battery. The product is unlocked and it’s available in the Play Store for US customers for now. No idea when this will launch internationally. I should probably mention that the new name of the product is rather Sony Z Ultra without the Xperia part.
