We brought you a piece on the rumored Sony Xperia tablet and its specs and now the device is back, this time with fresh pictures, revealing design traits. Sony’s upcoming slate seems to keep the main lines of the design from 2011, the one of the Sony Tablet S, but changes the specs. There’s also Xperia branding on this model, unlike on the first one.
Sony’s Xperia Tablet features a Tegra 3 processor, a 9.4 inch 1280 x 800 pixel display and a slimmed down case. As you can see, we have the same folded edge design of the Sony Tablet S, but the thickness and bulk have gone away. As you can see, the background shown here is the “Cosmic Flow” one, specific to the Xperia smartphones, once again showing that this tablet belongs to the Xperia line. There’s also the Walkman app on the screen and the tablet looks like a gadget focused on multimedia.
It’s very likely that the tablet will be used as a universal remote for your TV and other gadgets around the house, like the PlayStation 3 for example. Other specs include 64GB of storage, WiFi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, 3G, GPS, an SD card slot and an 8 megapixel camera. We have a front 1 megapixel camera available as well, plus a battery with 10 hours of life and the usual array of sensors present here. Sony is expected to debut the product at IFA 2012 this month.
