If you own the clamshell tablet know as Sony Tablet P, you should prepare for the Android 4.0 ICS update that’s coming on May 24th. The date was finally confirmed after a long time of speculation and promises. Sony actually promised to deliver the latest Android on its tablets in April, but the usual delay appeared.

The Tablet S model did receive the new software as scheduled, but the Tablet P missed it. The info comes from Japan, so I guess they’ll get the update first, but the rollout is expected to be global, so don’t worry. Android 4.0.3 will be the build that will arrive on the clamshell slate, but it will also bring extra features, adapted to the two small screens on this device. Obviously, you’ll get a performance boost, plus an updated interface, a reconfigured menu layout, better stability and the fast app switching system that everyone likes (with swipe to close).

I remind you that the Tablet P comes in WiFi only and 3G versions and it features a 1 GHz dual core processor (ARM Cortex A9, Nvidia Tegra 2) with a ULP GeForce graphics processor. Both screens on board are 5.5 inch in diagonal and based on LCD technology, plus they support a 1024 x 480 pixel resolution. 4GB of storage and 1GB of RAM are also available.
