Remember the Japan-only Sharp Galapagos Android slates? Their maker decided to surprise us all, by announcing their international availability, that also brings the devices to the US this year. The US versions will be different from the ones available in Japan and bring upgrades, like the inclusion of 3G support and EPUB e-book format.

Sharp is also preparing its own e-bookstore for international release and back to the tablet, aside from the above-mentioned upgrades, it’ll be identical to its Japanese brethren. This means that you get a 5.5 inch or 8 inch display, Android with Flash, WiFi b/g, 8GB of storage and a trackball.

Launch dates and prices are unknown, but CES 2011 will probably reveal more.
