Samsung is gearing up to launch a new rugged tablet, and the FCC just gave us a pretty solid glimpse at what to expect. The device, carrying the model number SM-X356B, has cleared the U.S. regulatory body — a move that usually signals an imminent debut. Notably, this same model recently popped up in the UAE’s TDRA certification database under the name Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro.
As part of Samsung’s Active lineup, the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro is clearly designed for tough environments. Expect a rugged frame, MIL-STD-grade durability, and a removable battery — a rarity in modern tablets. The Pro variant is expected to be a beefed-up version of last year’s Galaxy Tab Active 5.
According to the FCC label, the tablet will be manufactured in Vietnam and ship with 128GB of internal storage. The SM-X356B appears to be the 5G-enabled version, while the SM-X350B is likely the Wi-Fi-only model.
The cellular variant will support a wide range of 5G bands including n1, n3, n5, n7, n8, n20, n26, n28, n38, n40, n41, n66, n71, n77, and n78. Other connectivity features listed include:
– Wi-Fi 802.11ac
– Bluetooth
– NFC
– MicroSD card support
– S Pen support — ideal for fieldwork and jotting down notes on the go.
Charging-wise, the tablet may ship with Samsung’s EP-T150 power adapter, which supports 15W charging — confirmed by listings for both the cellular and Wi-Fi-only variants.
Geekbench listings suggest the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro will run Android 15 out of the box, powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset and 6GB of RAM. That’s a notable upgrade over the standard Active 5, which packed an Exynos 1380, 6/8GB RAM options, a 120Hz 8-inch LCD, and a 5,050mAh removable battery.
The fact that Samsung has already activated official support pages for the Tab Active 5 Pro in the UK, Switzerland, and Russia is a solid sign that launch day is close. If you need a tablet that’s built to take a beating while staying productive, the Tab Active 5 Pro could be worth the wait.
