I’ve learned to not get excited about the many rumors concerning supposedly flexible devices, because they usually don’t turn into reality. A recent discussion between a Samsung official and Bloomberg offered interesting insights into Samsung’s future plans.
Apparently, they want to make the Galaxy S5 something big, but also the Galaxy Note 4, that could end up featuring a flexible display. Enlarging the screen doesn’t seem like an option anymore, since 5.7 inches is big enough. The Galaxy Note 4 is expected to feature a wraparound 3 sided display, if all the prototypes and tests that Samsung does work out fine.
The flexible Youm display from last year was a step in the right direction, but Samsung has yet to proceed in that front. Galaxy Round tried to go in that “flexible” direction, but it flexed less than the LG G Flex. Samsung already has patents for wraparound screens, so it’s only a matter of implementation. Will they risk making the Galaxy Note 4 an experiment?
