Back in January Onda promised to introduce a few interesting tablets, including the 8 inch V812 model, but today we get a relative of that tablet, the Onda V818. Why are we discussing this unit? Well, maybe because it has a very affordable price tag of just $159.90.

As far as looks go, both Onda models look the same and feature frameless displays. However, the Onda V818 adopts a 7.9 inch display, with a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. The screen is of the IPS kind, so we get good viewing angles. The V818 is also lighter than the V812 and weighs 340 grams, pretty close to the iPad Mini, which is high praise for this Asian model.

Inside there’s an AllWinner A31 SoC, that comprises a quad core ARM Cortex A7 processor and Power VR SGX544MP2 GPU (8 core), as well as 2 GB of DDR3 RAM. The memory is 16 GB of NAND Flash storage, together with microSD storage. Other features include a 5 megapixel camera at the back and a 2 megapixel front shooter, while the power is handled by a 6000 mAh. All in all a very, very good offer, especially for less than $200.
