The Nook Color eReader has just received a firmware update, taking it to software version 1.2.0. What this package adds is a series of cool features that transforms the eReader into some sort of evolved tablet, rather than your average gadget used for e-reading.

This fresh firmware brings Nook Apps, Nook email and an improved web experience. There’s also a Nook Kids segment included, providing enhanced books for kids and Play titles. Barnes & Noble is saying that the update will roll out this week via WiFi. You don’t have to do anything to get the firmware update, as it will be available automatically.

Manual updating is also available and I sure can’t wait to see people playing Angry Birds on their eReaders.
