Two big devices were lacking from the series of Nexus models that got Android 7.0 Nougat fast. Those were Nexus 6, that got the update days ago and today it’s finally the turn of the Nexus 9 LTE to get this treatment. The device got the new software at the end of this week, in the LTE flavour.

Previously, the devices ran Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and now they’re finally updated. The HTC made tablet wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed and the public wasn’t too excited about it. An interesting aspect is that the Nexus 9 LTE tablets that ran the Android N Beta program already got the software update in early September.

Rumors have been saying that the Nexus 9 LTE and Nexus 6 Nougat delay is caused by some extra tweaks that were needed. The firmware update that comes this time also brings a security patch for the slate, but it’s the one from September 6th, not the patch from October 5th that the Nexus 6 got. Those doing the update should have at least a 50% battery charge.

The software features split screen functionality, quick switching for apps, redesigned and bundled notifications, quick reply and Doze on the Go.
