So, we have a few details about the Nexus 8 tablet, that’s supposed to be made by HTC and bear the name of Flounder. That was pretty much all we knew so far, but today, thanks to a code leak the device’s CPU has been exposed and apparently it’s an Nvidia Tegra.

The slate is likely to be announced at Google I/O 2014, held at the end of next month. Lately Android developers have been searching for info related to the Flounder aka Volantis, names which stand for the project associated to Nexus 8. Recent changes to the source code of the AOSP have shown that there’s a new device coming and that Flounder will be Tegra based, but somehow the code mentions 32 bit support.

Also, another item mentions 64 bit, so we may see a new Nvidia 64 bit CPU in the tablet. If Nexus is truly phased out in favour of Silver, the Nexus 8 would make a nice send off for the product line, being a top notch device, judging by these specs. However, I wonder if this Nvidia CPU can hold a candle to all those potent Intel releases…
