The Google I/O 2014 conference is very close and with it there will probably be a new Android version and a new Nexus tablet. The Nexus 8 has been long rumored, even as far as last fall, but the HTC brand appeared in the mix only weeks ago. Today, ASUS appears again linked to this product…
A source tells us that the Nexus 8 made by ASUS will indeed exist, but not with Google branding, instead it will be just ASUS branded. Could we see the start of the Silver project earlier than anticipated? That’s what the lack of Nexus branding tells me. Nobody is denying or confirming we’ll get a HTC Nexus 8, so it’s still in the picture as well. Worst case scenario we’ll get both models, with a Google Play Edition release.
Best case, we get Silver or even Nexus 8 for both models. The Nexus 8 is said to adopt a 64 bit processor, probably an Intel one. The recently leaked ASUS K014 model that appeared in GFXBench has already been paired with the new Nexus tablet and in case that’s it, it supports a 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution, comes with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, as well as a 5 megapixel camera.
Which brand would you choose to make this slate?
