The folks of Cult of Mac seem very surprised that the Surface Tablet is able to generate queues in front of Microsoft Stores, queues we’d only see at iPhone launches, for example. The story goes like this: an editor of the previously mentioned site wanted to go buy a Surface Tablet and imagined it would take 10 minutes to do that. Little did he know that such a job would take hours, because of the queue…

Frankly speaking, I only found out there is such a thing as a Microsoft Store a month ago and now it seems people are rushing to get their fresh Win RT slates. The Cult of Mac editor reports he saw a line of about 125 people waiting to buy the new product, that was launched yesterday. Microsoft hyped the launch quite a bit, reaching iPad-like online buzz. And keep in mind that the queues come after the collection of so-so reviews that the product got. They’re calling the hardware and design excellent, but the software not so much, since it’s not mature enough and feels sluggish.

Of course, there are talks about people in lines being associated with Microsoft, but such lines are present all over USA, so some of them must really be there because they want to. The bad thing here is that Microsoft Store employees aren’t used to such high customer traffic and take a long time to perform the sales. They go as slow as only processing 15 people per hour, which is a true bummer, especially comparing that to the 100 people an hour that Apple Stores go through.
