Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 Debuts, Priced at $1000 With New Intel and AMD CPUs

Microsoft unveiled yesterday the new Surface Laptop 4 machine, that starts at $1000 and provides quite a few configs. The follow-up to the 2019 Surface Laptop 3 is here and it comes in two diagonal sizes, 13.5 inch and 15 inch. It lets you choose an Intel Core Tiger Lake 11th Gen processor, or an AMD Ryzen 4000U “Renoir”.

The product is already up for order in USA, Canada, Japan from yesterday and orders start shipping on April 15th. Customers from the US who order from Best Buy or Microsoft by April 15 will also get a free pair of Surface Earbuds. The Surface Laptop 4 should come to other markets in the following weeks. As far as the design is concerned, the new model looks very much like the 2019 one, going as far as to have the same 3:2 aspect ratio, metal body and optional Alcantara-covered palm rest.

It weighs the same, has the same dimensions and wireless features. The CPU is basically the only difference, a bump up from Intel 10th gen to 11th and from Ryzen 3000U to 4000U. The 13.5 inch Surface Laptop 4 offers a 13.5 inch PixelSense screen with a 2256 x 1504 pixel display. It’s sold with a Ryzen 5, Core i5 or Core i7 and gets AMD Radeon Vega or Intel Iris Xe graphics. There’s 8 or 16 GB of RAM inside and 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB of SSD storage. IT also has WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0.

Then there’s the Surface Laptop 4 15 inch model, with a 2496 x 1664 pixel resolution, with an AMD Ryzen 7 4980U processor or the Intel core i7 11th gen. RAM goes to 32 GB this time and storage has the same options. Graphics are covered by Radeon Vega or Intel Iris Xe. Connectivity is pretty much the same.
