Microsoft has unleashed the Surface Book with Performance Base on two markets this week, the Australian and New Zealand one, but more markets will be added soon. The product starts at $2399, for the Core i7/256 GB storage version and it also has other options.
There’s a 512 GB model with 16 GB of RAM, an Intel Core i7 processor, at $2799 and finally a 1 TB model with Intel Core i7 and 16 GB of RAM at $3299. These products registered strong sales in USA and Canada and now they’re reaching Australia and New Zealand. Next quarter we’ll see the Surface Book with Performance Base available in Austria, France, China, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan and Switzerland.
The Surface Book has a premium build, with a dynamic fulcrum hinge, plus a detachable PixelSense display, that has a 13.5 inch diagonal and works with the Surface Pen and its 1024 levels of pressure. Windows 10 Pro is available here and the case is made of magnesium. We also get Dolby Audio Premium speakers, an 8 MP back camera and 5 MP front shooter.
Judging by the reviews on Microsoft’s store, I see that people are happier with this version of the Surface Book, that lacks bugs, has better battery life and handles rendering like a champ. Keep in mind that this is the improved Surface Book, unveiled in October this year, with a new GPU, 30% more battery and a new thermal system.
