Microsoft decided to revamp its Surface Book 2 lineup, by adding 8th gen Intel processors in the mix. It’s no April’s Fools, since the refresh happened over the weekend and it’s legit.

There’s a new midrange option in the company’s portofolio, so you can choose a 13.5 inch Surface Book 2 with an 8th gen quad core Intel Core i5 CPU. It’s clocked at 1.7 GHz and with Turbo Boost is reaches up to 3.6 GHz. The price is $1499 and that involves 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The previous gen unit had an Intel 7th gen chipset and it’s still available, at $1149.

You can also configure memory and storage options and max out at $2999. The core of the info is that aside from the CPU choice, nothing else has changed. The Surface Book 2 has received solid reviews, including praise for its design and the hinge approach. It’s also got a powerful setup, it’s reasonably slim and light and plays well with accessories.

Microsoft has an upcoming event scheduled for April 17th and odds are rather small that you’ll hear about any Surface Book. Microsoft usually keeps such goodies for a Fall unveiling. The April event will be focused on the Microsoft Surface Hub 2S and it’ll take place in New York City.
