A couple of weeks ago the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 tablet got a software update that did more harm than good. It was so riddled with issues that MS had to pull it and now they’re offering another update instead.
The software maker has looked into the problems and corrected them apparently. The initial reports involved failed installations, battery issues and more. Today’s firmware release seems to replace the version launched in December and it’s offered to devices that may or may not run the previous version. There’s talk online that this update may be only one of multiple releases coming in the next days or weeks.
This first part of the update series will fix December’s problems, especially the sleep/shutdown ones. Earlier this week we saw another update that fixed first gen Surface Pro battery issues and problems with the Type and Touch covers. Keep in mind that Microsoft hasn’t updated its history page for the device to acknowledge the change.
